Amazon revealed plans for new global job cuts after workers received an email sent in error.
The draft message, signed by AWS executive Colleen Aubrey, referred to layoffs under “Project Dawn”.
It wrongly stated affected staff in the US, Canada, and Costa Rica had already been informed.
Amazon previously announced 14,000 corporate job cuts as it reverses pandemic-era hiring.
The company employs about 1.5 million people worldwide and continues cost-cutting efforts.
