French authorities accuse Frédéric Péchier of poisoning 30 patients at Besançon clinics between 2008 and 2017. Twelve patients died.
Officials investigated Péchier after Sandra Simard suffered cardiac arrest during a routine operation in January 2017. Investigators found a lethal potassium dose in her anaesthesia bag.
Allegations of Intentional Tampering
Prosecutors claim Péchier deliberately contaminated infusion pouches to sabotage colleagues, then assisted during resuscitations. They say he “always had a solution.”
Péchier denies responsibility for any poisonings. Victims ranged from 4 to 89 years old. His lawyers insist he will prove his innocence.
High-Stakes and Technical Trial
The trial, running until December, challenges participants with its complexity and scale. Péchier remains under judicial supervision and is not in custody.
