Patrick Bamford has joined Sheffield United just seven months after leading abusive chants about the club’s manager, Chris Wilder, during Leeds United’s promotion celebrations.
The 32-year-old striker, a free agent since leaving Leeds in August, has signed a short-term deal with the Championship side until January. Despite their past tension, Wilder has welcomed Bamford as he looks to boost the league’s lowest-scoring attack and lift the Blades from the relegation zone.
Bamford’s chant mocking Wilder went viral in April, but the forward later apologized, with both he and Leeds boss Daniel Farke personally calling the United manager to make amends.
Wilder confirmed there were “no hard feelings,” saying: “Pat gave me a call, and I’ve got no issue at all. These things happen in football — it’s all part of the game.”
Bamford, who has battled injuries in recent seasons, made 18 appearances for Leeds last year and will now look to revive his career under the manager he once taunted.
