The jury of the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition, chaired by Garrick Ohlsson, has chosen 11 pianists to advance to the finals. Among them, Piotr Alexewicz stands as Poland’s only representative, carrying the nation’s hopes into the decisive round.
The announcement officially revealed the finalists for the world-renowned Warsaw contest, one of the most historic and respected showcases for pianists. Since 1927, the event has remained dedicated entirely to the timeless works of Fryderyk Chopin, preserving his influence across generations of performers.
Global Finalists Prepare for Their Moment on Stage
The distinguished list of finalists includes Kevin Chen (Canada), David Khrikuli (Georgia), Shiori Kuwahara (Japan), Tianyou Li (China), Eric Lu (United States), Tianyao Lyu (China), Vincent Ong (Malaysia), Miyu Shindo (Japan), Zitong Wang (China), and William Yang (United States).
Each competitor will open with Chopin’s Polonaise-Fantaisie, Op. 61, followed by one of two piano concertos — E minor, Op. 11, or F minor, Op. 21. They will perform with the National Philharmonic Orchestra, led by conductor Andrzej Boreyka.
The final performances will take place in Warsaw from October 18 to 20, with sessions beginning at 6 p.m. each evening.
