Juventus have dismissed head coach Igor Tudor following an eight-match winless run across all competitions, the club confirmed on Monday.
“Juventus FC announces that it has today relieved Igor Tudor of his duties as coach of the men’s first team, along with his staff,” the club said in a statement, a day after their 1-0 defeat to Lazio. Reserve team manager Massimo Brambilla will take temporary charge.
Tudor, who replaced Thiago Motta in March, became Juventus’s first foreign manager since Didier Deschamps in 2006–07. A former Juve defender, he spent nearly a decade at the club as a player, winning two Serie A titles and reaching a Champions League final.
After guiding the team to fourth place and Champions League qualification last season, Tudor oversaw a strong start to the campaign before form collapsed. Juventus drew five straight games, then lost three in a row to Como, Real Madrid, and Lazio.
“I think we prepared for the match in the right way, but we’re still missing something,” Tudor said after Sunday’s defeat. “We’re all responsible for this difficult period.”
It is Juventus’s earliest managerial change in a season since 1969, when Luis Carniglia was replaced before November. The club have failed to score in four consecutive matches and currently sit eighth in Serie A, six points behind leaders Napoli.
