Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie has been identified as the Premier League player allegedly threatened at gunpoint by an agent in north London on 6 September.
The incident reportedly took place in Cockfosters Parade, Barnet, while Udogie was out with a friend during the international break. Police arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, blackmail, and driving without a licence. He has been released on bail while investigations continue.
No one was injured, and there is no suggestion the suspect was Udogie’s agent. Spurs said they have been “providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident.”
Despite the scare, the 21-year-old Italy international returned to action in Tottenham’s 13 September win over West Ham and started in Tuesday’s Champions League match against FC Copenhagen.
